Bits of Waddos' HeadI need to get this stuff outta my head so I can get some sleep... Over 18's only please, so you kids get out from under the flamin' boatshed...! 12月19日 Getting Merrier by the minute...So it's all happening... Well, it's all the same anyhow! Still working at GI. The only difference there is that we have a different ship inthe Captain Cook Graving Dock (that's the real name for the Dry Dock). Now the last of the guided missile frigates (the Newcastle) is in for it's upgrade. I've been doing as much overtime as possible, mainly to try and get my mortgage down. I really hate paying a bank so much interest every month, so all my overtime is going towards it. More pics following, again move cursor over for explanation...
As you can see Jac and Dan had their engagement party at Strathfield Golf Club, congratulations again to you both. 11月10日 14 Weeks Later...Here's a bunch of photos from the last 14 weeks, or whatever it is since I last did this. If you hover your curser over them you should get a brief explanation of what you are looking at or click on it make it big... So things have been somewhat busy, but I notice that this blog is still getting plenty of hits... (why? I don't know...) As you can see from the pics, I am still working at Garden Island. Things are going ok. This ship will be leaving the dock in the next week or so, so maybe I'll get some more up to date pics soon. I'm not drinking at the Vegas Lounge in the Cross anymore, I've barred it... Reason - I was having a few quite ones, with a workmate, on a Friday afternoon. It came the time when it was his shout so he ordered them at the bar, as you do. After the bar maid poured them she asked him for ID... Being 27 years old, my colleague said that he didn't have it on him because he had been at work and that he was 27 and didn't think he needed it. She then refused him service and told him he had to leave on the grounds that you must be carrying photographic ID to drink in that pub! We had already been in the pub for 1/2 an hour and had 2 schooners by this stage. He came back and told me what happened. I said that that was bullshit and went to the bar as was quickly served the 2 beers no questions asked. After returning to our seats the barmaid and the manager(ess) came over and told me that I shouldn't have bought those beers and gave me my money back for my colleagues and then threw him out. I argued that because I knew him and knew that he was well over 18 that i had ever right to buy him a beer, and that the security guards new that we were regulars and over 18, but that made no difference, he still had to go. So I was left sitting there dumbfounded. Otherrs in the pub were also shocked! I gathered my thoughts, picked up my beer and slammed it down on the bar declaring that they could stick it their fat arses, I don't want it or even be in this shithole anymore, and that I would never come back, and walked out. What a fucking joke. That pub is full of Junkies, Dealers, Dropkicks and all the dregs of society and they pick on us. Well they can get fucked, I'm not going back. Instead, I drink in Woolloomooloo. You might find me at the Frisco, Tilbury, Woolloomooloo Bay, Bells or all of them in one night. And yes I am enjoying it a lot more than that other sess pit! I wish there was an emoticon of ficking the 'bird'...
8月5日 Like Coming Home from a Dodgy HolidayThat's the best way to describe what it was like to start work back at Garden Island this week. It all happened quite quickly really. I got the call on Friday afternoon to see if I was available, the paperwork was done during my prestart 'interview' on Saturday and I was at work Monday morning. This time I am working for the Dockmaster, even though I am now employed through an agency, so they can get rid of me each time the ships get refloated. But it's like putting on an old pair of boots. We are currently working on the Spirit of Tasmania I (couple of pics below) for another week then HMAS Success will come in. Not sure for how long though.
From my last post up until starting back at GI, I continued to work at that house renovation in Longueville. It was starting to really piss me off though. Why do Labourers get treated like shit? I was laughing internally every time the foreman put shit on me. I knew that I would only be doing that work for a while and that at 56 years of age, that was all he knew how to do... I didn't give them any warning, I just didn't show up on the Monday. Hey, if you're going to employ casuals you gotta expect casual behaviour. Have I mentioned that I played a 'come back' game in 5th grade the other week and that I was captain and we won and that is the only game that they have won this year and that I am the undefeated captain of 5th grade? I've finally given in to the 'craze' and have signed up to Facebook even though it's only for 15 year old girls. Click on that link to get your own, oh and add me, I'll be your friend... I'm sure other stuff has happened and it probably involved drinking beer but I couldn't be bothered putting it here. Windows has been pissing me off. They are adding updates to this whole spaces thingy and it's just becoming too hard to post a blog now. I've been trying to post this for 3 days... We'll see what happens this time! Dutchy - When was the last time you used your shoulders to make a tackle? 7月17日 10 days at a glanceFriday: Didn't bother ringing up for work... Did housework instead!!
Saturday: Flew to Brisvegas for a former workmates (PK's) wedding. Overnight at Robertson Gardens.
Sunday: Flew back to Sydneytown/recovered.
Monday: Working for an Earthmoving company in Stanhope Gardens. New suburb near Bella Vista. Washed out, sent home.
Tuesday: Back working in Stanhope Gardens.
Wednesday: Stanhope Gardens...
Thursday: Stanhope Gardens again... but I'd had enuf and told Trojan not to send me back there... Got a different assignment...
Friday: Working for a residential building company on site in Longueville (Lane Cove). I like residential. Nothing is too big or heavy when you build a house as opposed to when you are building a new suburb...!
Saturday: Dave, my driver, picked me up and took me to Waitara to watch Briars play. It was so cold that I had to get on the cans by the start of 3rds. Ended up at the club until closing. Good session, wish I had eaten something...!
Sunday: Wanted to do the Sunday session to blow out some cobwebs because, clearly I had drunk enuf the day/night before, but my mum called in and didn't leave till late. By then I was too mentally fatigued to do anything...
Monday: Back to Longueville
Today: Also in Longueville...
Somewhere in there I got a call from the guy putting together the team to work on the next ship into Garden Island. He said that I'd be invited back to work on it in a few weeks time and that there was about a years work there. Aren't I lucky... Today I got a call from Transfield who were putting together a team to work on a shutdown in Brisbane at the Caltex Lytton refinery. It was for the whole of August and then come back and have 2 weeks off and then start a shutdown at Caltex Kurnell refinery for 4 weeks. I had to say no to that because there is the possibility of a years work in Sydney. That invite had better come through...!
Dutchie: Who sharpens all the little Keno pencils at the club? 7月5日 The Wallabies won what?My dream run came to an end on Thursday arvo after being told I wasn't required to "work" on Friday. Oh well, it was money for nothing anyhow... I didn't bother trying to find something else to do, I just had another relaxing day at home...
The Briars took on Epping at Rothwell on Saturday, and I got there in time to watch Colts go around. They Lost. Then 4ths Lost. Then 3rds WON. Then 2nds Lost, and then 1sts Lost... In that time I seem to have amassed quite a few cans under my belt and was sufficiently pickled so I headed home to watch the Wallabies and All Blacks...
Dougie and David joined me for the game and few more cans (but this time bottles). There's no point rubbing it in or bragging about winning on this blog because we all know Kiwis can't read...
Sunday session #2 has occured. Good numbers once again. Everyone will need to wear shorts in future, especially if Washy is going to be anywhere near the firewood! Tigers got up, you beauty!
On Monday, Dougie and I went to measure up a few rooms in his new place. I think he actually refered to it as his new 'project'. Then we rewarded ourselves, for that 5 minutes work, with a coffee in West Ryde. My Mum rang and needed some help at the Drummoyne house, so I voluteered Dougie to come over and help me help my Mum. (By the way, remember that house I was in? The new owners rented it for a year and then didn't have enough money to buy it, so we kicked them out...!) Dougie was somewhat inspired for his new 'project'.
Tuesday was another nothing day. I downloaded and filled out forms for a large mining contract company (Monadelphous). That took most of my day. Lots to read, lots to fill out. I got the call in the arvo for work the next day and stubbornly agreed to work, only because it was at the new Concord Library and Community Centre.
So I worked there yesterday and today and it was tough work. I haven't worked so hard for so little money in a long time. Headed to the club for Origin and Trivia, and Dinner. So that meant I was a little dusty today and wasn't in the mood to work like a dog. At one point I turned to a fellow 'Labourer' and said "you know what, Fuck this shit, I'm outta here" and walked off with full intention of leaving but while I was washing up he approached me and asked me to stay to help him, otherwise he would have to do it all on his own. I felt guilty and stayed, but I did as little as possible...
